About Me

Jason Hall
Jayce^
The moniker Jayce^ came about years ago. It first started as a way to distinguish myself from all the other Jason's my age. In one class alone there were 5 others. Jas, Jay, etc. are often used, and I think the first spelling of Jayce came from a show called Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. The carat(^) at the end came about in high school, during a Pascal class. During my first experiences with pointers, I had some of the usual difficulties learning the subject. After bringing down the 8088's we had, I was tagged with the Pascal pointer syntax. It was nifty enough, that I started using it more. Now it's the common nick/handle that I use online.Tech
I'm a geek, that's the straight of it. I'm an Open Source/Free Software bigot. My favorite language is Perl, I prefer Linux on my servers, and most desktops. I will go for an Apple OS X (unix base, pretty skin) system for desktops/laptops, but need my linux at hand. While I have more experience with MySQL, I also use PostgreSQL frequently.I'm currently President of the Provo Linux Users Group and a member of the board for Utah Open Source.
Paintball
Yes, I'm a more than avid paintball player. Currently I play for Team DesertEdge on the 'A' team for SPPL and other Woodsball functions. Based on preference I'm a backup for the Speedball tournaments.Camping
If it wasn't for those darn geek gadgets, I'd be an old style frontiersman. I love being in the boonies, living bare minimum. Expect to see me climbing a peak, or kayaking to some primitive island during my vacations.Social Networking
For various reasons I've set up profiles on most network tools. Some are useful, others I detest (myspace). But I'm there if you want to link:My resume may be found here on my Resume Page.
